Edward Atkinson Hornel (1864–1933) Scottish painter associated with the Glasgow Boys movement. Lived in Kirkcudbright, Galloway from1866, where he remained for most of his life. Boyhood friend of Crockett and William MacGeorge’s. Studied art at Edinburgh School of Art (1880–1883) and under Charles Verlat in Antwerp.
