Memoir/Biography by Malcolm McLachlan Harper (1907). This is the only contemporary biographical work, published after the Public Banquet held for Crockett at Dalbeattie in October 1906.
Article in The Idler Magazine: ‘Crockett at Home’ by Robert Sherard from 1895. One of many such articles from the period, this has been used ever since as source material. However, it contains many factual errors which have dogged scholarship ever since. Read with caution!
