Referring to yesterday afternoon conversation with Herbert Clark; now write say it is Mister Crockett's present intention to publish: new novel in book form through Messrs Smith Elder and Co spring 1901; first of two novels agreed to write for Clark in book form summer 1901; third novel in book form through Messrs MacMillan and Co autumn 1901; will not make arrangements to publish any other long novel in book form during year 1901; during year 1902 will publish novel in book form through Messrs Macmillan and Co spring, possibly second long novel summer, and second story agreed to write for Clark in book form during autumn; will not make arrangements to publish any other long novel in book form during year 1902; reserves right to publish books other than novels any time seems advisable; regarding publication novels serially Mr Crockett will not publish any other long novel serially during year 1900 than one commissioned for publication in Christian World; during year 1902 will not arrange for serial publication of more than one novel while Clark using purchased one and should arrange for publication of second story serially while Clark running his will do best to arrange second one shall not begin as Clark will begin in first week of January 1902
