Description
Review of Bog-Myrtle and Peat (Bliss, Sands and Foster, 1895). Critical assessment: judges the stories mostly lengthy, pointless, and ill-told, finding Crockett afflicted with rheumatic English at times positively painful. Criticises overuse of Scots dialect glossing and italicised Latin phrases. Acknowledges his dreams and ideas but finds the collection an exercise in gathering fairy gold. Mixed-content page.
