Crockett. No other writer has made as much of it, and no single piece of writing captures it completely \u2014 because for Crockett, there was never only one Loch Enoch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This article traces how Crockett transformed a real Galloway landscape into literary terrain across more than two decades of writing. It begins with his 1894 non-fiction essay &#8216;Galloway Fastnesses&#8217; \u2014 the piece that unlocked the fiction \u2014 and follows the loch through its appearances in <em>The Raiders<\/em> (1894), <em>The Dark o&#8217; the Moon<\/em> (1902), and <em>Silver Sand<\/em> (1914).
